This special exhibition celebrates the centenary of Tofig Javadov (1925–1985) - a distinguished representative of the celebrated Absheron School and one of the most important realist painters in Azerbaijani art.
Javadov’s works offer a vivid portrait of Baku in transformation: industrial landscapes and rapidly evolving urban scenes appear alongside lyrical views of nature, intimate still lifes, and everyday domestic moments. Through his sensitive eye and masterful technique, he bridged tradition and modernity, capturing the pulse of a city on the move while revealing the quiet beauty of ordinary life.
The exhibition reflects Javadov’s lasting legacy and enduring influence, inviting viewers to see Baku and its changing identity through the eyes of an artist who found poetry in both the monumental and the mundane.
